Downtown Savannah Wedding Editorial | Grey Area
Looking to work with the charm of the location in a fresh way not often seen, the design of this editorial strays from traditional elements and color palettes. It takes place in historic Savannah, Georgia using the age of the city as a contrast to more modern design senses. When Whitney (Whitewood Events) and I set out to plan this shoot we envisioned following a couple throughout the day as they prepare for an elopement, just the two of them in the center of town. Savannah's squares are surrounded by enchanting Spanish moss and antiqued plaster walls, one of the many reasons our couple chose to move there from different states to make a life together. We started in their historic apartment, morning sun breaking through the tall windows as they pulled on their attire - a classic black suit and modern Lena Medoyeff gown. After dressing, our bride and groom walked the old sidewalks eventually ending up at Monterey Square for the exchanging of vows and intimate dinner at an al fresco table. Shades of grey stood as our color foundation, with the modest allowance of additional tones such as warm stone and gold - all inspired by local architecture. Mary of Amy Osaba Design pulled together an assortment of delicate stems to provide texture and whimsy. Details here are uncomplicated yet refined, achieved by Whitney's table setting, unique jewelry and smooth fabrics including velvet and silk. Stroll with us if you will, as we venture down Savannah sidewalks and into the life and romance evoked by this enchanting southern locale.
