Savannah Photographer | Dusk on the shoreline
Empty shoreline. Lapping waves. Ethereal light.
One might say it’s all the soul needs. For repair, for joy, for connection. All the mystery of life feels soothed by a quiet piece of time with the ocean.
This is a simple story of human synergy, frozen forever on film. Mary Elaine and Brett are clearly beautiful people on the surface, but just as the ocean that beauty stretches vastly and deep. Together they form an amalgamation of joy, sincerity, adventure, peace, tenderness. We were not even on the beach for a full hour, yet years of their story seemed to spill out and land in these frames. My vision for the session was uncomplicated - wide open space, calming colors and hopefully a little chemistry. When we wrapped (and even before) I knew something much more profound had transpired and I was just lucky to have been the someone there to photograph it. Maybe it was the wild wind, maybe the pastel burn in the sky. . . perhaps just having the time to reflect on the family and life they had built together. I don’t need to know “why”. These thoughts and secrets belong to Mary Elaine and Brett, to keep and cherish for themselves. Simply knowing this set of photographs has a purpose rooted in more than just surface objectives is immeasurably valuable in my pursuit of learning. Thank you to Mary Elaine and Brett for taking this session and running with it - literally and figuratively. May you forever reflect on these images and moments with vivid fondness.
